DESCRIPTION: John J. Elliott, London, England (attribution) for Simons Bros. Co., Philadelphia, Penn., tall clock, time, strike and Westminster and Whittington chime on 8 bells and four gongs, 8 days, three brass weight driven movement in a mahogany case with full reeded Corinthian columns, beveled Gothic arch glass in trunk door, paw feet, carved wreath on center of plinth and carving above and below trunk, The hood has broken arch top with turned rosettes, fretwork sides, carved leaves on chimney under center finial and full reeded Corinthian columns. The brass dial has ornately cutout and engraved brass corner spandrels and profusely engraved dial center, silvered chapter ring with applied brass numerals, hour strike / silent and Westminster and Whittington selectors and moon phase dial, c1910
CONDITION: the clock is in excellent original condition. However, the dial has flaking on the moon phase and the silvering is tarnished and worn, but can be restored nicely. Ht 98", Width 27", Depth 16 1/2"
